eleven and a half years of psychiatric and dual diagnosis work
at Columbia Dominion Psychiatric Hospital, where he was involved
in developing and implementing cutting-edge treatment interventions
for their adolescent and adult patient populations. Additionally,
he worked extensively with the child and geriatric programs,
expanding his competency in developmental issues and age-appropriate

to guide individual, family, and group counseling and is committed
to finding the most cost effective, practical, and least restrictive
methods to accomplish treatment goals. He meets with clients
and their families at the Annandale and Reston offices as well
as in their homes.
Mr. Slifka received a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Psychology from Hampden-Sydney College in 1987 and a Masters
of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University
in 1998. He is a Certified Addictions Counselor in the state
of Virginia.
On a more personal note, Mr. Slifka enjoys spending
free time golfing, playing industrial league baseball, snow
skiing and competing in chili cook-offs.
He is available most
days, evenings and weekends for consultation services.
