Nicole L. Anderson is currently a Clinical Supervisor and
Outpatient Counselor at the National Counseling Group Inc (NCG). While
working at the NCG, she has facilitated an ADDP group, the
Young Adult group, the Compulsive Computer Use group, and an
ASAP group. She began working for the NCG in July 2006 and
recently completed her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology
from Argosy University. Her internship consisted of psychological
testing, marital counseling, family counseling, parent training,
individual counseling, and behavior management at Christian
Psychotherapy Services located in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Prior to internship, Dr. Anderson completed her second practicum
with Arundel County Public Schools in 2005 which primarily
consisted of psychological testing and school-based counseling. Her
first practicum was completed in 2004 with DC Superior Court’s
Juvenile Probation Unit. In this capacity, she provided
individual and family counseling to adolescents who were on
probation through Washington, D.C.’s juvenile court system.
Prior to coming to NCG, Dr. Anderson did four years of home-based
counseling in Prince George’s County Maryland serving
children ages 2 to 21. Client issues included depression,
ADHD, sexual abuse, substance abuse, anxiety, oppositional
defiance, separation anxiety, and anger management. From
September 2003 to June 2005, Dr. Anderson did school-based
counseling in Waldorf, MD with the Charles County School System
as an independent contractor for a non-profit agency. In
this capacity, she conducted individual and group counseling. Groups
facilitated include anger management, self-esteem building,
and social skills enhancement.
Upon completing her M.A. in 2002 in Community/Agency Counseling
from Hampton University, Dr. Anderson worked as the Housing
Program Manager for a non-profit organization located in Hampton,
Virginia from February 2001 to January 2003. In this
capacity she managed both the family shelter and transitional
housing programs; worked in liaison with various agencies in
the community to establish a solid referral database; supervised
all housing staff members; and managed the volunteer program
within the agency. She also volunteered at the People
with Attention and Developmental Disabilities Association resource
center in 2001 during this time period.
Dr. Anderson also completed her B.A. degree in Psychology
from Hampton University in 1999 and is a lifetime member of
both the Psy Chi and Golden Key Honor Societies. Her
volunteer experience at this time included mentoring at Magruder
Early Childhood Center located in Hampton, Virginia. Dr.
