John Konkel began working with National Counseling Group in June 2007. Starting his career with NCG as an Intensive In-home and Mental Health Support counselor, he brought to NCG an extensive history of working with the youth and families of the Eastern Shore. He has served as a licensed lay minister and youth pastor for over 18 years in his local church, and continues to serve in these roles. Additionally, John worked for a year with the Department of Juvenile Justice, serving with the 2A Court Service Unit in Accomack and Northampton County. Mr. Konkel’s counseling specialties include family systems, communication skills, anger management, problem solving, behavior modification, mediation, and parenting.
Mr. Konkel was offered the position of Supervisor at the Eastern Shore site in November 2008, and then was promoted to Site Director in April 2009. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Professional Counseling at Liberty University, and plans to obtain his Virginia license as a licensed professional counselor.
As a passionate and dedicated professional, Mr. Konkel believes that NCG is committed to having a positive impact in the Eastern Shore community, and he considers each client an opportunity to make a difference for both the client and their family. In his personal time, John enjoys the outdoors, volunteering as a Cubmaster for the Boy Scouts of America, and spending time with his family.
