Julie Greenlee

Julie Greenlee

Director of Social Services for Therapeutic Foster Care, Julie has worked with National Counseling Group since August 2008. She has served children and families by providing comprehensive assessments, intensive in-home counseling and mental health support services, and most recently has been instrumental in spear-heading the further development of NCG’s TFC service area by opening several new regions in the state.

Julie Greenlee, MSW QMHP has committed her career to influencing change among children and families. She received a Bachelor of Arts in the areas of Psychology and Family Studies from Alderson Broaddus College and later went on to receive her Masters in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. Early in her career Julie worked with Vision Appalachia in West Virginia, a not-for profit agency instrumental in shifting the poverty cycle in rural areas of the state. She was involved in tutoring underprivileged and low-income children, in shaping the lives of adolescents through the ministry, Young Life, and in providing basic needs to families through their partnership with World Vision.

Shaping Julie for her career in Social Work included internships working with Child Protective Services and Foster Care and Adoption, Head Start, and in helping families acquire housing through section 8 while working with Affordable Housing Corporation, Inc. After receiving her graduate degree Julie was hired by For Children’s Sake of Virginia where she operated their Emergency Diagnostic Center.

The primary focus of the facility was to provide residential treatment to children while working to assess, diagnose, and stabilize them in an effort to prepare them for placement in a family. The children served often suffered from diagnoses such as Reactive Attachment Disorder, Bi-Polar, Oppositional Defiance, etc., many with dual diagnoses.

Julie is a dynamic trainer and facilitator. She has been training families in Parenting with Love and Logic, Safe Crisis Management, Disciplining Difficult Children, and in preparing families for adoption and fostering children. She has worked as a training consultant for several agencies assisting in preparing parents to provide appropriate care for children with therapeutic needs. She has been featured on Knowlera Experts for her expertise in handling acting out individuals.
